A guided and individual practice session, Destiny Reports will give you hands-on experience to format and save many useful reports. Bring along your reports questions and be prepared to explore the answers. There will be time to share what reports you use and hear what others are doing in their schools. Destiny Library Software features VERY powerful searching abilities. Knowing when to use what kind of search will make you more effective in your work. Every collection is different and this is your chance to learn more about yours and how your catalog records add to searching success. Look at your customizable search settings and make appropriate adjustments. Boolean and other search strategies you can use with teachers and students will be discussed. Searching the library catalog will be the main focus. Customizing and searching textbook records will be discussed if an interest is expressed. Inventory usually occurs at a very busy time of year. Did you know that you could do your inventory NOW? There are a number of ways to bite off small chunks of your collection for quick and dirty results. Discuss with others the successful and not-quite-so-successful being used in schools throughout our region. Both library and textbook inventory will be discussed. Destiny has fully-functioning holds (within one library) and interlibrary loan (among multiple libraries) features. Practice sharing materials with someone else in your district or with a partner in the Test District. Bring materials "to loan" for a step-by-step understanding of the process in Destiny. Review your current Destiny settings and make appropriate adjustments. Discuss your experiences, materials-sharing policies in your district, and patron empowerment for holds and ILL.
